Velox is a Latin word meaning swift or rapid, while the “ia” ending is meant to make it sound feminine. Veloxia is the name of the super computer that both rules and looks after the city of Promitto. “She” is one of a kind, there are no other machines or computers or gadgets as powerful as she is. Promitto was supposed to be the city-island of the future, a paradise where the brightest and best where supposed to gather for great advances. And for a while it was. Fueled by the powerful element Ellenium that’s mined from deep within the island’s soil, the people of Promitto prospered.
One day, Promitto disappeared off the map. Contact was lost, and no one could reach the area where the island was supposed to be. Vicious, never-ending storms surround the island. It was theorized that something had gone wrong with the Ellenium, that the element that had been the life blood had become unstable. But those on the mainland could never figure out what had happened.
Veloxia is still working, overlooking the husk of Promitto. Yet Veloxia is broken and slow- the trams winding through the city do not run, the power for lights and water and modern convenience are sketchy at best, and she does not know what has happened here. However Veloxia is determined to do her duty and fulfill her programing;
Even if it means dragging in anyone she can find to help.
The three researchers are the first, the programmer, the engineer, and the biologist. And then there is you.
You are here because she found you and she called you, no matter what your current states of affairs were back home. You could have been dead or dying for all Veloxia cares, but she knows that she needs you. You are here too because you are a woman. For a woman created Veloxia, built her from brass and circuits and punch cards, and she will only suffer a woman’s touch to repair her.
